What does an Egypt yacht charter involve?

A luxury Egypt yacht charter means the vessel is the party's alone, with a crew and catering, and a route and pace set around the people aboard. On the Red Sea it is a private yacht sailing from Hurghada, El Gouna, Sharm El Sheikh or Marsa Alam.

On the Nile it is a dahabiya taken for one party, or, for a larger group, one of the five Nile ships Triways works with, chartered whole.

Red Sea Yacht Charter

Open water, reefs to moor over, and no one aboard but the party.

Departure points

Hurghada and El Gouna for the Giftun Islands and the reefs of the mainland coast; Sharm El Sheikh for Ras Mohammed and the Strait of Tiran; Marsa Alam for the quieter reefs of the south.

Aboard

A crew and catering, with the day shaped around swimming, snorkelling and long lunches at anchor. The yacht, the cabins and the length of the charter are matched to the party.

Diving & water sports

A private dive guide can join the yacht, for beginners or for experienced divers, and snorkelling gear and water toys can be added. See Adventure.

Private Nile Charter

The same river as every cruise, with the whole vessel to one party.

For a couple, a family or a small group, a dahabiya taken for the party alone sails between Luxor and Aswan at their pace, mooring where they choose. For a larger group, a wedding or an incentive, any of the five ships Triways works with, Esmeralda, Alma, Chateau Lafayette, Nile Treasure and Alyssa, can be chartered whole.

Crew and catering are part of the charter, and the minimum length and availability are confirmed for the dates. Nile Cruising describes the vessels, and Choosing the Right Way Down the Nile when a charter is the right answer.

Sea or river

Yacht or Dahabiya?

Both are private. What differs is the water, and what the days are for.

  • A superyacht on open water in the Red Sea, the sun low over the coast

    A Red Sea yacht

The sea, for swimming, reefs and rest.

Days at anchor over coral, snorkelling and diving from the boat, and the coast as the backdrop. It suits clients who want the water itself, usually at the end of a journey.

  • A sailing vessel on the Nile at Luxor at dawn, hot air balloons over the West Bank hills

    A Nile dahabiya or ship

The river, for the temples between Luxor and Aswan.

Days moving past fields and villages, with the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way and a guide aboard. It suits clients who want Egypt’s history at a slow pace. See the Nile.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a yacht charter and a Nile dahabiya cruise?

A yacht charter is on the Red Sea: open water, reefs, swimming and diving. A dahabiya sails the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, past the temples. Both can be taken privately; the choice is between the sea and the river.

Which Red Sea port is best to start a yacht charter from?

Hurghada and El Gouna for the Giftun Islands and the mainland reefs; Sharm El Sheikh for Ras Mohammed and Tiran; Marsa Alam for the quieter southern reefs. The right one depends on the rest of the journey.

Can a whole Nile cruise ship be chartered for one group?

Yes. Any of the five ships Triways works with, Esmeralda, Alma, Chateau Lafayette, Nile Treasure and Alyssa, can be chartered whole for a single group, subject to the dates.

Is there a minimum charter length?

Yes, and it depends on the vessel and the season, so it is confirmed against the brief.
