Can clients get private access to the Grand Egyptian Museum?

Yes. Triways arranges after-hours visits, time in galleries closed to the public, and curator-led tours, each with a private Egyptologist, and each subject to the museum’s approval for the date.

On request, and subject to his availability, a private tour or lecture with Dr Zahi Hawass can be arranged.

Why private

The Museum, Without the Crowd

By day the museum belongs to everyone. After hours, with the museum’s approval, it can belong to one party.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest museum in the world devoted to a single civilisation, and it stands on the edge of the Giza plateau. It is a building made for scale: a vast atrium, a staircase lined with kings, and the treasures of Tutankhamun shown together.

A private visit changes how it is seen. The pace is the party’s own, the Egyptologist can stop wherever the conversation leads, and the great spaces are seen quietly, as few visitors ever see them.

What is arranged

What Private Museum Access Includes

The collection without the crowd, and the people who know it best.

  1. When

    After-Hours Visits

The museum after it closes to the public, with the galleries quiet and the party free to take its time.

  2. Where

    Closed Galleries

Time in galleries and areas not open to the public on the day, where the museum allows it.

  3. With

    Curator-Led Visits

A visit led by a curator, alongside the party’s private Egyptologist, for a depth no standard tour reaches.

  4. Always

    A Private Egyptologist

Every visit is led by a private Egyptologist, matched to the party’s interests and pace. Guides & Experts describes how.

From Request to the Museum Door

You bring the client. We handle the museum.

Every request goes to the museum for the specific date, and approval is never automatic. That is why the proposal is explicit about what is confirmed and what is still requested, and why the day is planned to work either way.

  1. 01

    Brief

Who is coming, when, and what they most want to see: a family whose children love ancient Egypt, a collector, a small private group.

  2. 02

    Request

We put the request to the museum for the date, naming the access wanted: after hours, closed galleries, a curator.

  3. 03

    Proposal

It states what is confirmed and what is requested, and how the day works if the museum says no.

  4. 04

    The visit

A private Egyptologist meets the party, and private transport brings them to the door and home again.

  5. 05

    Around it

The Pyramids, the rest of Cairo, dinner after: the visit placed where it makes the most sense in the journey.

With Dr Zahi Hawass

A session with Egypt’s best-known Egyptologist.

Dr Zahi Hawass, the archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities, has led excavations at Giza and the Valley of the Kings. On request, Triways can arrange a private tour or lecture with him, subject to his availability on the dates.

It is the rarest thing on this page, and it is confirmed only once he has agreed the date.

What You’ll See

The largest museum in the world devoted to one civilisation, beside the Pyramids.

The Tutankhamun galleries

The tomb treasures of Tutankhamun, shown together as a complete collection.

The Grand Staircase

A staircase lined with colossal statues of kings and gods, rising towards a view of the Pyramids.

Ramesses II and Khufu’s boat

The colossal statue of Ramesses II in the atrium, and the reassembled boat of Khufu, builder of the Great Pyramid.

The building itself

A façade of stone triangles and a wall of gilded cartouches: the museum is one of the sights, and it is best seen unhurried.

Knowing how

Knowing the Museum Is One Thing. Knowing How to See It Is Another.

The right sequence, the right hour and the right person can turn a famous building into something personal. That is the part we plan.

Before or after Giza
The museum stands on the edge of the plateau. Seen first, it gives the Pyramids their context; seen after, it answers the questions they raise. We place it where the journey needs it.
The hour
After hours means the end of the day, so the transfer, dinner and the rest of the evening are planned around the visit.
The person
An Egyptologist chosen for the party: one who can hold a teenager’s attention, or keep pace with a collector’s questions.
Other museums
Private visits can also be requested at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and confirmed against the brief. See Cairo.

Working with Triways

One point of contact

One person at Triways holds the request, from the first question to the evening itself.

Confirmed, or requested

You always know which is which, in writing, so nothing is promised to the client that the museum has not agreed.

A plan that works either way

If a request is declined for the date, the day still holds: a visit in opening hours with the private Egyptologist, or a different evening.

Discretion

The client’s details go only to the people who need them to arrange the visit.

Pair it with other exclusive experiences: a yacht or dahabiya charter, private aviation, a private villa or VIP security.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is private after-hours access to the Grand Egyptian Museum really possible?

Yes. Triways arranges after-hours visits, time in galleries closed to the public and curator-led tours, each subject to the museum's approval for the date. The proposal says what is confirmed and what is requested.

Who leads the private sessions?

A private Egyptologist arranged by Triways, with a museum curator for curator-led visits. On request, and subject to his availability, a private tour or lecture with Dr Zahi Hawass can be arranged.

Can a session with Dr Zahi Hawass be guaranteed?

No. It depends on his availability on the dates, so it is confirmed only once he has agreed. We tell you as soon as we know.

How far ahead should private museum access be requested?

As early as possible. Lead times depend on the museum and the date, and are confirmed against the brief.

Can private visits be arranged at other museums in Egypt?

They can be requested, for example at the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and are confirmed against the brief.
