Five routes side by side, with the nights counted from each itinerary. A Nile dinner cruise in Cairo is an evening out, not a Nile cruise, so it is not counted as one.

Comparing the 8-day and the 9-day? The vessel is the main difference: a cruise ship or a dahabiya. Nile Cruise sets the two side by side, and how Nile cruising is run names the vessels.

Choosing a starting point

How to Choose

Four common briefs, and the sample journeys that suit each.

  • First-Time Visitors

The 8-day pairs Cairo with a Nile cruise as a well-paced introduction. The 10-day is the fullest route, adding Aswan with Abu Simbel, Luxor and the Red Sea.

  • Limited Time

The 5-day is the shortest, and stays on the Nile. The 7-day is the shortest that includes Cairo, with the Red Sea and no river cruise.

  • Want a Nile Cruise

Three include one: the 5-day on its own, the 8-day on a cruise ship after Cairo, or the 9-day on a dahabiya after Cairo.

  • Want Both Culture & Beach

The 7-day sets Cairo beside Hurghada. The 10-day adds Aswan, Abu Simbel and Luxor before the Red Sea.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do I need for an Egypt trip?

It depends on what the client wants to see. The five sample journeys run from 5 to 10 days: 5 days covers a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, 7 days covers Cairo and the Red Sea at Hurghada, and 10 days adds Aswan with Abu Simbel and Luxor. Share the client's dates and interests through Discuss Your Brief and we will advise.

Which package includes a Nile cruise?

Three of the five include a multi-night Nile cruise: the 5-day (four nights on a 5-star Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan), the 8-day (three nights on a 5-star cruise ship after Cairo) and the 9-day (four nights on a 5-star dahabiya after Cairo). The 7-day and 10-day journeys do not; both include a Nile dinner cruise in Cairo on the first evening.

What's the difference between the 8-day and 9-day packages?

Both begin in Cairo and continue on the Nile. The 8-day uses a 5-star cruise ship for three nights, sailing between Aswan and Luxor. The 9-day uses a 5-star dahabiya, a traditional Egyptian sailboat, for four nights between Luxor and Aswan, and flies back to Cairo. The vessel is the main difference: the dahabiya is the smaller, more intimate way to travel the river. Nile Cruise explains the two.
